There are three mains desires

There is one very beneficial point and it is very simple and straight-forward. There are three mains desires - desire to live, desire to acquire and desire to do. The stronger these three desires are, the more one gets bound to the world and there will be many obstacles in understanding the essential truth "vaastavik tattva". When this desire is wiped out, then the work is very easy.

What was shared yesterday, the desire to live will prevent one from understanding this point. There is nothing to be acquired or gained from desiring. Other than losses there is nothing beneficial. The point is that the number of years that have passed, that many years one has died, then it is due to the strong desire to live that this point is not understood. Now if quarter of the life span has gone by, then one is quarter dead; if half the life span is gone by, then one is half dead and when entire life span has gone by, then one is fully dead. Now, is there any doubt about this statement? Just as when water comes in a reservoir, but when the water is over, then we say "Water is all gone", similarly when man dies completely, then we say "he is gone". The day water was filled in the reservoir from that day onwards slowly and gradually it began to decrease until it was over. Similarly man is constantly getting over. Now what is new about this point? Then one can say this entire world is all-in-all moving towards getting over, ending, finishing.

In the Mahabharat, there is a dialog between Yaksh and King Yudhishthir. There Yaksh asked a question, that what is the most surprising thing? To this Yudhishthir answered -

Ahanyahani bhootaani gacchantih yamaalayam |

Sheshaah sthaavarmicshaanti kimaashraryamatah param || (Maha. Van. 313/116)

, "In this world everyday jeev is going to `yamlok' (death), then too the remaining people continue to desire to live here forever. What can be more surprising than this?"

"Ahanyahani" i.e. Daily beings are going towards death. How is it daily? Because the day one is born, that very day death is coming closer. Therefore the number of days that have gone by, that many days have surely decreased, that many days death has come closer. There is no doubt about this. Observing is daily moving towards, not observing. One day it will all end and one will not be able to observe. This world is every moment moving towards "non-existence" (Not Is). If we accept everything in the present itself to be non-existent, then at this very moment one can realize the essential truth, knowledge of Brahma (divinity) "brahm gyaan", knowledge of truth "tattva gyaan", liberation "mukti" and Self Realization "atma-shaakshaatkaar".

From "Taatvik Pravachan" in Hindi by Swami Ramsukhdasji.

Ending of all desires can be called Sukh (NICE MESSAGE)

Ending of all desires can be called Sukh.As swami bruthari said in Vairagya Shatakam : "who is poor? , person who has big desires is the poorest."

"Chah gayi chinta miti manua beparvah, jinko kachu nahi chahiye,vo shahanpati shah" (He who has no desire of any kind is richer than the richest)

Why do we get sad?
when circumstances/results/outcomes are not according to our wishes/desire ,we get sad.As Bhagwan said in Gita - Building of obstruction in the way of desire, produces anger.

What should we do to get rid of sadness.
Stop desiring.

If we stop desiring how can we perform Karam?
I do not say take the path of doing nothing.
Karam are happening even when we are observed as not doing anything.
When we are sitting down,it does not mean that digestion is not happening.Even sitting down is a karam in itself. The foolishness on one to that he is the doer of a karam binds him in shackels.Plan,Do, everything properly and perform which is required/endoresed by scriptures/performed before by great men,Just take "I am doing/will do/have done" OUT.This is true in itself.I ask you are we reaaly in control anyway? If we are in control then why do we get sad/sick/loss of family/old/loss of property/death?
The fact is that we are not in control of what happens, foolishness gets us stuck and takes us to the chakra of life and death.

AS Swamiji told  one story,as  follows:
There was this Raja going with his army through a forest,he sees a Sanyasi sitting in the shadows of a tree.Raja asked Sanyasi "why didnt you salute me" to which Sanyasi answered "I donot salute my subordinate"
Raja asks in which way he is subordinate to him as he is the Raja and is in charge of his kingdom and everything that his kingdom covers and sanyasi doesnt even have proper clothes to wear.
Sanyasi - "everything you say?"
Raja - "yes"
Sanyasi -"if you are in charge of everything in your kingdom then banish all the flies from your kingdom"
Raja - "I have no power to do that and how am I your subordinate?"
sanyasi - "because I am not in control of anything,I have no desire and that makes you my subordinate."
The essence of this story is one who doesnt want anything/have no desire is actually greater than everyone.

Want to be Sukhi = stop desiring !!!!

Duties happen automatically and naturally on renunciation of Desires

If a man has a particular desire, it is not a rule that this desire will always be satisfied. A desire may or may not be satiated. Till today all the desires of even a single individual have not been satiated, nor will they ever be satiated. If a desire is born, and if it is not fulfilled, it causes a lot of pain. But the condition of man is such that he continues to feel saddened by unfulfilled desires, simultaneously he continues to have new desires ! The outcome is that neither all his desires are fulfilled, nor does the pain and
sorrow end. Therefore if a person wants to be rescued from pain, the remedy is Renunciation of Desires (Kaamanaa ka tyaag).
In the scriptures it is written that in this human body, there is a predominance of action. Deep within himself, when a man, has the desire to acquire something, he is inclined to act. An action is of two kinds -
"kartavya" (duty, i.e. what ought to be done) and "akartavya" (what ought not be done). Performance of action with a disinterested spirit (nishkaam bhava) i.e. FREE OF DESIRES, is "kartavya". Performance of action with interested spirit (with personal desires) is "Akartavya." - NOT DUTY.

The root of Akartavya is desire for sensual pleasures that come from association. When desire for pleasure is wiped out, Akartavya does not happen. And when Akartavya does not happen, one automatically and by default observes "Kartavya", i.e DUTY is inevitably protected and fostered. The
spiritual discipline that happens naturally or automatically is real (authentic), whereas that spiritual discipline that is practiced intentionally
with effort is unreal (artificial) .

A human has four desires

A human has four desires. One- Artha (desire to earn/accumulate/ own money, wealth, houses, precious metals, live stocks etc). Two- Kama (Desire to enjoy material worldly pleasures) Three- Dharma (Desire to do his duty) Four- Moksha (Desire to get liberated from death/birth cycle, sorrows of this world) !

Out of these four desires, first two (Artha - material prosperity and Kaam - enjoyment of pleasures) are subject matter of 'prarabdha' (destiny) alone. New karmas have no role to play there. On the other hand Dharma (doing new karmas- doing duty) and Moksha are subject matter of 'purushartha' ( udyog/efforts) !

Jeeva is often seen going reverse. Jeeva is often seen running after Artha and Kama taking the stick of 'purushartha' in hand and leaves Dharma and Moksha to the mercy of 'prarabdha' ! Thus, he suffers, suffers and suffers. Hence it is a stupidity to believe that 'doing' is caused by destiny. You have complete independent control over 'doing' say naam japa, abhyaas, sadhana, etc.

What's going wrong is that we approach God to fulfill our desires instead of His desires

There are many billions of people throughout the world who consider themselves religious. Generally each of them adheres to a particular religious tradition, which is in many ways similar and also in many ways different from other religious traditions. Often, they consider that their tradition is the only valid tradition, and that others who are not participants in their tradition are lost souls condemned to be denied access to the kingdom of God. In this way, they fail to see the true universal nature of religion. Unfortunately this exclusivist mentality leads to increasing chaos and conflict in a world that is already too much overburdened by chaos and conflict. Religion is supposed to be God's gift to man so that he can have a heaven on earth and qualify to return to God's kingdom upon leaving his current body. So what is going wrong? And what can be done to change it?

What's going wrong is that we approach God to fulfill our desires instead of His desires. In other words we approach Him with our contaminated consciousness of subtly considering ourselves to be the Supreme. We place ourselves over Him by asking Him to serve us instead of us serving Him. This is selfishness, not selflessness. And this is what is going wrong in the hearts of practically everyone who approaches God. To change this we must teach that selfless service to Supreme Person is the only way that one can experience genuine complete happiness. If the hand wants to get nourishment, it must give the food to the belly. God is like the belly and we are like the hand. So we must give everything to God. In this way, we will be the best servants of God and all living beings including ourselves.

So, the universal religion is pure selfless service to the Supreme Person, the source of all existence. The language of the universal religion takes different shapes according to the different traditions. But when one goes deep enough into any one tradition, he will arrive at exactly the same conclusion as anyone else who follows his own religious tradition deeply enough. Therefore instead of getting side tracked by the differences of the religious traditions, we should immediately try to capture the pure essence of religion, the universal religion of pure, unadulterated, selfless, loving service for the Supreme Person.

The difficulty is that we currently have a drastic shortage of enlightened teachers on this planet who are fully tuned into the original, pure essence of religion, the universal religion of pure selfless devotion to God. An enlightened teacher is someone who has gone deep enough into his own tradition to find the one universal root of all traditions. He is a teacher who has fully realized the one universal or absolute truth underlying all relative truths. If planet earth had a sufficient abundance of such enlightened teachers in each tradition, there could be instituted a global educational system which would easily bring to this tattered global society a truly profound golden era of peace, prosperity, and happiness for all.

This is the day that we are praying and crying for, Lord. May it come soon! May it come soon! May it come soon!
